All-you-can-eat bavette · $60
Bavette (flank steak) and sides, all you can eat, $60 per person. Same cut, same grill, same maple embers — we simply keep bringing more. It’s the simplest way to get to know us, and you know the price before you sit down.
The bavette is also on the à la carte menu, as a single portion, at $45. The all-you-can-eat formula is a different thing, and it runs on those two evenings only, for tables of eight guests or fewer. Tell us when you book.
The chef's counter
A handful of seats face the embers, across the pass. From there you watch the grill fill, the cuts turn, the plates come together, and you hear the wood work. It is the seat to ask for if you come first for the cooking: the chef and the sous-chefs are two metres away.
There are few seats. Mention it when you book.
The cellar and the bar
Behind its glass doors, at the heart of the room, the cellar watches over private imports, patiently chosen grands crus and easy-drinking wines that love smoke. Every bottle is there because it has something to say to the embers. The list extends to rare spirits, whiskies and amari, to carry the evening on at the bar.
Our wine list is not published online, and that is deliberate. A private-import cellar is not ordered from a catalogue: it is bought in small lots — a few cases, sometimes a single one. A list posted online would be out of date the day it went up, and nothing disappoints quite like a bottle that is advertised and gone. We would rather hand you the list in the dining room, as it stands that evening, and build the pairings as the meal unfolds.
Tell us what you like when you book, or what you are looking for to mark the occasion. The bottle will be chilled by the time you arrive.
The tables of the house
The dining room occupies the ground floor of an 1893 Victorian house: dark woodwork, a gilt-mirrored fireplace, a glowing bar, and the chef's counter open to the flames.
Before you book
Our hours
Wednesday to Saturday, from 5 p.m. The kitchen closes at 10 p.m. Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Vegetarian
A vegetarian option is available on request, provided you tell us in advance. The menu is built on fire, game and full-flavoured meats, and no vegetarian dish is printed on it. The garden, the greenhouse and our market farmers let us compose one. Tell us when you book, not when you arrive — the kitchen needs to know ahead of time.
Allergies and restrictions
Tell us when you book, with the same notice: it is what lets the kitchen cook something else rather than take an element off the plate.
Cancellation
Cancellation is free at any time, with no penalty. If your plans change, a call or an email is enough — and the table goes to someone else.
Tipping
Menu prices do not include service. A tip is entirely yours to decide: nothing is added to the bill — not for a table of two, not for a large party, not for the private room. You leave what you think is right.
Payment
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Interac debit and cash. Everything works here, Amex included.
